Ramsey Police Department Monthly Report September 2007 General Police Statistics and Highlights ^ Counterfeit Checks Coborn's management reported two males had tried to cash a counterfeit check at the business. Officers arrived and located the males within the store. Both males were arrested for possession of counterfeit checks. One of the males falsely represented himself as an employee of the City of Ramsey to store employees. Suspects were interviewed by investigators and during apost=Miranda statement one male admitted to attempting to cash a known fraudulent Anoka County Human Services check for $953.24 at Coborn's. The other male had in his possession a known fraudulent Anoka County Human Services check for $890.51. ^ Controlled Substance Arrests Officers were dispatched to the area on a report of a loud party at a residence. Officers stopped a vehicle leaving the residence and arrested four juvenile occupants for underage consumption of alcohol. During a search of the vehicle officers seized marijuana and cocaine. Additional 2°d degree controlled substance charges were added for two of the juveniles. ^ Hunting Seven hunting permits were issued to landowners and 16 bow permits were issued. ^ Homicide Charges In April, officers responded to check the welfare of a male. Upon accessing the home by officers and family members, the male was found deceased. There was no sign of foul play at the scene. A subsequent investigation conducted by Anoka County CID has resulted in a request for homicide charges through the Anoka County Attorney's Office. Additional details regarding the incident are not available until charges are filed. ^ Code Enforcement Officers followed up on 23 ordinance violations. One citation was issued, two properties are in the process of being abated by the City and five are pending (not in compliance). ^ Animal Control Five dogs were impounded in September. -.All of them were released to their owners. -14-
