CASE # 1996 SPRING EVENTS By: Jessie Hart, Finance Officer Background: Each year the City of Ramsey sponsors the following spring events: Becky Weiss Memorial Bike Road-eo Annual Pet Clinic Spring Recycling Day Environmental Expo The following provides a brief overview of each of the events: Becky Weiss Memorial Bike Road-eo The City of Ramsey has played an important part in the sponsorship of the Becky Weiss Memorial Bike Road-eo by providing the coordination and staffing for the annual event. The 1996 event will be the sixth year that the event has been held and is scheduled for Saturday, May 4, 1996, at the City Municipal Center. This event is run for the most part on donations from area businesses and individuals and profits from T- shirt sales. The City contributes staff time by allowing the individuals hour-for-hour time off in the same pay period that the event is held. Since 1990, when the initial donation was received, the fund has accumulated an excess of $3,672.67, which can be utilized towards funding of the 1996 event. The following is a summary of the activity in 1995: Fund Balance 1/1/95 Donations - 1995 Interest Earnings 1995 Expenditures - 1995 Fund Balance 12/31/95 $3,458.57 7,737.97 307.10 (7,830.97) $3,672.67 Expenditures consist of bicycle helmets, bicycles, clowns for entertainment, advertising, printing, refreshments, and T-shirts for resale. It is anticipated that the nature of the expenditures will remain somewhat consistent for 1996, although we have projected the cost to increase slightly to accommodate increasing participation in the event.
