MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />Date: April 12, 1996 <br />To: Jessie Hart, Finance Officer <br />From: Linda Waite Smith <br />Re: Commissioner Stipends in Other Cities <br /> <br />In January of this year I surveyed other TUG cities to find out how many of them pay <br />members of appointed boards and commissions. <br /> <br />Forty-two cities responded to our request for information, including: Anoka, Apple <br />Valley, Arden Hills, Bayport, Blaine, Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Burnsville, <br />Columbia Heights, Coon Rapids, Cottage Grove, Crystal, Eagan, Eden Prairie, Faribault, <br />Fridley, Golden Valley, Hopkins, Inver Grove Heights, Jordan, Lakeville, Lauderdale, <br />Maple Grove, Maplewood, Mendota Heights, Minnetonka, Mounds View, New Brighton, <br />New Hope, Orono, Plymouth, Red Wing, Richfield, Robbinsdale, Rosemount, Roseville, <br />Shakopee, Shoreview, St. Anthony, St. Louis Park, White Bear Lake, Young America. <br /> <br />Six of the forty-two cities (14%) pay members of boards and commissions. Stipends are <br />as follows: <br /> <br />Blaine: Planning Commission only; $35 per meeting; $50 for chair per meeting. <br /> <br />Jordan: Park Board; Planning Commission; Cable Commission; Economic <br />Development Authority; Housing Redevelopment Authority; all paid $20 per meeting. <br /> <br />New Hope: Personnel Board only; meets as needed; no pay for work sessions; $75 per <br />meeting when interviewing candidates. <br /> <br />Rosemount: Planning Commission; Utilities Commmission; Park Board; Port <br />Authority; all paid $35 per meeting. <br /> <br />Shakopee: Planning Commission only; $50 per meeting. <br /> <br />Shoreview: Planning Commission only; $76 per month; $92 per month for chair; paid <br />once a year. <br /> <br /> <br />
