Councilmember Beyer commented that some years ago, we offered this building to the Anoka <br />County Historical Society and they did not want it. <br /> <br />Councilmember Peterson reiterated that the school did not want it when it was last offered either. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman suggested we need to get total costs up front and let people know <br />what it really will cost. <br /> <br />Councilmember Beyer stated there's never been a structural engineer in to look at the building. We <br />need to get better estimates. <br /> <br />Mr. Schroeder stated that we said we would remodel the Public Works building for $280,000 and <br />we will. We estimated $600,000 as a budget for the Police Department building and we will do <br />that for that amount also. We will be given a budget to work with and we will work with that <br />amount of money. City Council will be able to stop the project if the bid scale is too high. Staff <br />cannot or will not proceed without bids. <br /> <br />Case #15: Report from Finance Committee <br /> <br />1) Authorize Various 1996 Capital Purchases <br /> <br />Finance Officer Hart stated that the Finance Committee was presented with a number of <br />miscellaneous capital purchases. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Peterson and seconded by Councilmember Beahen to approve the <br />purchase of the following capital outlay items included in the 1996 adopted General Fund and <br />Enterprise Funds budgets: General Fund: Administration - thermal binder, spiral binder and two <br />transcribers. Elections - five single voting booths, General Government Buildings - furniture for <br />mall area, Police Department - radar unit and a typewriter, Fire Department - SCBA harness, <br />SCBA bottles (3), hand held radios (2), pagers with chargers (4), 1-1/2" nozzle, 1,500 gallon drop <br />tank, 24" 8HSP Gas smoke extractor, 600' 1-3/4" attack line, Street Maintenance/Snow Plowing - <br />sander for vehicle #610, Parks and Recreation - 84" turf aerator, Enterprise Funds: Water Utility <br />Fund - polyphosphate Tank with two pumps, hydrant/water main diffuser and valve turning <br />machine. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Hardin, Councilmembers Peterson, Beahen, Beyer and <br />Zimmerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />2) Authorize Advertisement for Bids for Articulated Loader with Snow Plow <br /> and Wing <br /> <br />Finance Officer Hart stated that included in the 1996 Adopted General Fund Budget is $110,000 <br />for the purchase of one three-yard, articulated loader with snow plow and wing. This amount is <br />net of an anticipated trade in value of $20,000. This purchase is a replacement for unit #605. <br /> <br />Motion by Councihnember Beyer and seconded by Councilmember Peterson to adopt Resolution <br />g96-01-031 authorizing advertisement of bids for three-yard, articulated loader with snow plow <br />and wing. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Hardin, Councilmembers Beyer, Peterson, Beahen and <br />Zimmerman.
