<br />Councilmember Strommen introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #08-08-160 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING/CELEBRATING CONSTITUTION WEEK 2008 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, September 17, 2008, marks the two hundred twenty-first anniversary of the <br />drafting of the Constitution of the United States of America by the Constitutional Convention; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to accord official recognition to this magnificent document <br />and its memorable anniversary; and to the patriotic celebrations which will commemorate the <br />occasion; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Public Law 915 guarantees the issuing of a proclamation each year by the <br />President of the United States of America designating September 17 through 23 as Constitution <br />Week <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows:' <br /> <br />1) That the City of Ramsey hereby proclaims the week of September 17 through 23 as <br />CONSTITUTION WEEK. <br /> <br />2) That the City of Ramsey asks its citizens to reaffirm the ideals of the framers of the <br />Constitution by protecting the freedoms guaranteed to us through this guardian of our <br />liberties; remembering that lost rights may never be regained. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Jeffrey, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec <br />Councilmember Strommen <br />Councilmember Jeffrey <br />Councilmember Dehen <br />Councilmember Elvig <br />Councilmember Look <br />Councilmember Olson <br />
