Councilmember Elvig introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION #10-01-004 <br />RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR HIGH SPEED BROADBAND CONNECTIVITY <br />WHEREAS, Anoka County has embarked on a project to determine the interest in and <br />needs for high speed broadband connectivity in Anoka County; and <br />WHEREAS, there are increasing educational, economic, and community benefits to <br />increased high-speed connectivity. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br />1) That the City of Ramsey supports the effort of Anoka County to develop a broadband <br />vision and solicit public/private partnerships through a Request for Proposal process. <br />2) That the City of Ramsey supports submission of a federal grant to secure funding to <br />implement the broadband vision. <br />3) That the City of Ramsey recognizes that broadband through optical fiber will be a long- <br />term benefit to all citizens. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Look, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br />Mayor Ramsey <br />Councilmember Elvig <br />Councilmember Look <br />Councilmember Dehen <br />Councilmember McGlone <br />Councilmember Wise <br />and the following voted against the same: <br />None <br />and the following abstained: <br />None <br />and the following were absent: <br />Councilmember Jeffrey <br />
