PARK AND RECREATION CO~ISSION
September 11, 1980

Members present:

Guests Present

Dick Swanson
Jan Johnson
Dennis Donovan
Greg Drake
Terry McLean

Ron Alwin
Jerry Bellman
Roy Shumway
A1 Kempf
Marc Hadley
Tom Gamec

The major purpose of the meeting was to invite the various recreation and
civic groups of Ramsey to a meeting where a review and discussion of the
proposed bond issue could take place. The R.Y.'A.A., Commmaity School,
Hockey Association, Saddle Club and the Lions Club were all represented.
Mayor Gamec made a short presentation on the background and financial
aspects of the proposed recreation bond. Almost all remarked at the low
monthly estimated cost per household for a $800,000 - $900,000 bond.
Following this presentation an excellent exchange of ideas took place be-
tween the various groups and the Park Board. There were many general com-
ments concerning cost of items, location of the various park activities,
n~er of fields needed and etc. The following recommendations resulted from
these discussions and comments:

1) Install another hockey rink.
2) Make sure warming house dimensions are adequate (40 x 70)
3) If cost is possible, grade, install underground water
system and seed area involved in Phase II construction.
The open space is needed for playing areas and would re-
sult in a much more finished looking park.
4) Hold a special election at a later date so adequate
preparation of the brochure and education of the citizens
can take place.

Ail were enthused with the proposed park and want to be kept informed of
future developments.

Meeting adjourned at 9:30 P.M.

Respectfully submitted,

Dennis Donovan, Chairman
