CALL TO ORDER <br />Mayor Strommen called the City Council Work Session to order at 5:33 p.m. <br />2. TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION <br />2.01: Fire Chief/Emergency Management Director Interview with the City Council <br />Human Resources Manager Lasher reviewed the staff report. She introduced candidate Matt <br />Kohner to the Council and staff. <br />Mr. Kohner was asked to provide a brief overview of his education, training, and experience. <br />Mr. Kohner reviewed his experience in firefighting which began in Ramsey as a paid on -call <br />firefighter, noting his training and experience along the way to his position as Assistant Chief in <br />Fridley. He stated that it was a hard decision to leave his position as Fire Marshal in Ramsey to <br />go to the Assistant Chief position in Fridley in 2013, as he ultimately wanted to serve in Ramsey. <br />He stated that he knew that position would provide him with the skills to be able to come back to <br />Ramsey in the future. He noted additional training and education that he has received along the <br />City Council Work Session / February 23, 2016 <br />Page 1 of 8 <br />
