SPECIAL PLANNING AND ZONING MEETING

City of Ramsey
County of Anoka
State of Minnesota

A special meeting of the R~msey City Planning & Zoning Commission was held
on October 16, 1978 at Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. Meeting
was called to order by Chairman Ken Peterson at 7:40 p.m. with the following
in attendance:

Kenneth Peterson
Bradley Bodle
Gerald Zimmerman

Art Dunn
A1 Sorteberg (arrived 8:30)
Lloyd Schnelle, Admin.

Jack Menkveld was requesting a zoning change in the transitional residential
area, to be limited Industrial, with a deed to exclude heavy manufacturing.

The general location of the property is Puma St and Hwy #10. Mr John Lee,
Can-O-Log Construction, would like to construct a building to build log houses.

The General consensus of P&Z is:

Negative:
1. Look at the l°ng term land zoning

2. The City of Ramse¥ does have existing Industrial land that is
not being developed.
3. This rezoningwould create "spot industrial development"
4. This type of zoning can be construction of any material.
5. Future building of log homes may not be popular.

Positive: 1. This land is not suited for residential (railroad tracks and
Highway #10)
2. The City will probably lose some Industrial Land.
3. There will be a continuation of an East/West street through
the property.
4. There is a power easement along HwylO that would be a good
service road.

The Commission would like an over-all plan of development of the area.

Motion by Art Dunn to recommend to the City Council to call for a public
hearing to rezone, for Commercial and Industrial land to be determined later,
based on the fact that the land is of little value with the tracks and
highway. Gerald Zimmerman, seconded.

Voting yes: Dunn, Zimmerman
Voting no: Chrm Peterson, Bodle, Sorteberg

Motion Denied

Discussion by P&Z to have an~ ordinance stating "P&Z review all plans and
specs"

Meeting adjourned at 9:00 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
