FINANCE COMMITTEE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramscy Finance Committee conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, August 10, 2004, at <br />tiao Ramsey Fire Station Number I, 15050 Armstrong Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Chairperson David Elvig <br />Councilmember Sarah Strommen <br />Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Finance Officer Diana Lund <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Dean Kapler <br /> <br />CAI.I. TO ORDER <br /> <br />Chairperson Elvig called the regular meeting of the Finance Committee to order at 6:07 p.m. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />There was none. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: Quarterly Review of Franchise Fee Collections <br /> <br />Finance Officer Lund advised the issue for consideration is whether to continue the franchise fee <br />for an additional quarter, or to proceed with the repeal of the ordinance. The Committee has <br />received a copy of revenues collected through June 30, 2004. She noted the items associated <br />with the building permits have come in over budget so far. Regarding the property tax, that is <br />based on property tax in the second half and is not a definite amount. She noted there had been <br />discussion of wanting the revenue to exceed the projected amount somewhat, as some staff <br />positions have been put on hold. Also, extra revenue could be put into the Park Fund that will be <br />discussed in Case #3. <br /> <br />Chairperson Elvig inquired of an estimate for building permit revenue. <br /> <br />Finance Officer Lund indicated she does not have an estimate at this time. She noted in August <br />Pulte I [omes put in $70,000 in permits in order to get everything in prior to the fire sprimkler <br />ordinance going into effect. <br /> <br />Councihnember Strommen noted the total of the franchise fee revenue is at $267,700, which is <br />over half of the $404,000 that is needed. <br /> <br />Finance Committee/August 10, 2004 <br /> Page 1 of 6 <br /> <br /> <br />
