Councilmember Hendriksen introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #02-11-285 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF RAMSEY TO HIRE A HEARING <br />OFFICER TO PRESIDE OVER ALCOHOL AND TOBACCO VIOLATION HEARINGS <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Ramsey Police Department performed alcohol compliance checks on all <br />businesses that sell alcohol and tobacco within the city; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, six businesses failed the compliance check by selling alcohol to underage <br />parties and seven businesses failed compliance checks performed for tobacco by selling to <br />underage parties; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, one of the businesses that failed the tobacco check has requested a hearing <br />on the nlatter; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, staff is requesting to hire Attorney Barry Sullivan to act as a hearing officer <br />for the remainder of 2002 and 2003 for any violation hearings with the cost not to exceed five <br />hundred dollars per hearing. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />That the Ramsey City Council hereby authorizes hiring of Barry Sullivan to act as a <br />hearing officer for alcohol and tobacco violations in 2002 and 2003. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Kurak, m~d upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec <br />Councilmember Hendriksen <br />Councilmember Kurak <br />Councilmember Anderson <br />Councilmember Zimmerman <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: <br /> <br />Nolle <br /> <br />and the following abstained: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br /> <br />
