<br />CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council conducted a City Council Work Session on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, <br />at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 7550 Sunwood Drive NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: Mayor Mark Kuzma <br />Councilmember Chelsee Howell <br />Councilmember Debra Musgrove <br />Councilmember Chris Riley <br />Councilmember Dan Specht <br />Councilmember Matt Woestehoff <br /> <br />Also Present: City Administrator Kurtis Ulrich <br /> Public Works Superintendent Grant Riemer <br />Deputy City Administrator Timothy Gladhill <br /> Representative John Heinrich <br /> Representative Peggy Scott <br /> Senator Jim Abeler <br /> <br />1. CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Kuzma called the City Council Work Session to order at 5:30 p.m. <br /> <br />2. TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION <br /> <br />2.01: Review Current Legislative Session with Local Legislators <br /> <br />City Administrator Ulrich reviewed the staff report. <br /> <br />Representative Heinrich commented that it is refreshing to be in the meeting with live people and <br />to see everyone this evening. He stated that he will once again be in the minority in the House for <br />the next two years. He stated that he will continue to be on the Transportation Committee and will <br />also be serving on the Committee to Prevent Homelessness and the Housing Policy and Financing <br />Committee. He stated that one of his top priorities will continue to be funding for Highway 10 <br />while also learning more about housing and helping to prevent homelessness. <br /> <br />Representative Scott commented that she continues to serve on the Ways and Means Committee <br />and provided input on the Governor’s proposed budget which includes tax increases that would <br />place the State in the top five for commercial taxes and the second highest for taxes on the wealthy. <br />She noted that those would not help to attract people and businesses and would most likely cause <br />higher income people to leave the State. She commented that in order to replace a high-income <br />person that has left the State, you need about 30 average or above average families. She stated <br />that she continues to serve on the Education Policy Committee noting that her top priority is getting <br />City Council Work Session / January 26, 2021 <br />Page 1 of 9 <br /> <br />
