Councilwoman Van Wagner introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #82-174 RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CHANGING OF THE SPEED ZONE FROM 55 M.P.H. TO 45 M.P.H. ON 167TH AVENUE NW (MSAS) BETWEEN CSAH #5 AND STATE HIGHWAY #47 WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota Department of Transportation has jurisdiction on assigning and changing speed zones on all MSA streets in the City of Ramsey; and WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey has received complaints from citizens stating that the 55 m.p.h, speed zone on 167th Avenue NW (MSAS) between CSAH ~5 and State Highway #47 is creating an unsafe condition due to the high use this roadway receives from local traffic and bicyclers; and WHEREAS, the Chief of i~olice of the City of Ramsey has stated to the City Council that the speed zoning on 167th Avenue NW between CSAH #5 and State Highway #47 be changed to 45 m.p.h. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: 1) That the speed zone on 167th Avenue NW (MSAS) between CSAH #5 and State Highway #47 be changed from 55 m.p.h, to 45 m.p.h. 2) It is directed that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. 3) It is further directed that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the following persons: Chief of Police Mike Auspos Public Works Superintendent Merle Mevissen The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilman Reimann and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Van Wagner, Reimann, Cox and Sorteberg and the following voted against the same: None whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council this the 21st day of December, 1982.
