Councilmember Sorteberg introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ~84-43 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 509 of the 1982 Session Laws (MS 473.875) establishes the <br />Metropolitan Water Management Act; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Cities of Anoka, Andover, Coon Rapids, East Bethel, Ham Lake, <br />Ramsey, St. Francis and the Towns of Burns and Oak Grove form the Rum River Water <br />Management; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the above listed communities have in placed ordinances which require <br />strict adherence to the State laws governing the flow of water into the Rum River which <br />has wild and scenic river designation; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is anticipated that the cost to just prepare the overall Water <br />Management plan could exceed $100,000 and it will not address internal community problems <br />or administer this new quasi governmental unit; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, all of the above communities do not have a water management problem <br />in regards to the flow of their surface water to the Rum River; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, all of the above listed communities feel that in view of the above Chapter <br />509 of the 195Z Session Laws (MS 473.875) will create a major cost burden to our <br />communities and really serve no purpose. As previously stated, all the communities now <br />have ordinances in place controlling surface water which flows to the Rum River. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, <br />ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br /> l) It is requested that this resolution be forwarded to our legislators requesting <br />that Chapter 509 of the 198Z Session Laws (MS 473.875) be amended to exclude the above <br />listed Cities and Towns for the reasons indicated above. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mayor Gamec <br />and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Sorteberg and Schlueter <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />and the following were absent: <br /> <br />Councilmembers Reimann and Van Wagner <br /> <br />whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council <br />this the 1Zth day of March, 1984. <br /> <br /> · · , ~ / / ,// <br /> <br /> ,., . ,...-,. / .~ ~/~--~ ~ _ <br />City,A-d-minis}~at or/Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
