Councilmember Zimmerman introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #99-08-166 RESOLUTION APPROVING A 2% INCREASE FOR THE CITY OF RAMSEY'S MUNICIPAL SEWER SERVICE EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1, 1999 WHEREAS, at the Council Work Session of June 21, 1999, it was requested that the City's municipal sewer rates should be increased to more effectively offset the City's sewer charges from the Metropolitan Council; and WHEREAS, the City's 1998 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report showed that the City's Sewer Utility Fund was minimally exceeding cost expenditures due to the increased rates of the Metropolitan Council; and WHEREAS, a slight increase in the City's sewer utility rates would help to offset this minimal increase and allow for any unforeseen expenditures; and WHEREAS, the City currently charges a flat rate of $55.81 per residential customer (approximately 1,700), per quarter and a rate of $55.81 + $2.54 per 1,000 gallons in excess of 20,000 gallons for commercial customers (approximately 70); and WHEREAS, a proposed 2% increase would bring these rates to $56.93 per residential customer and $56.93 + $2.54 per 1,000 gallons in excess of 20,000 gallons per commercial customer per quarter. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: That the Ramsey City Council hereby authorizes a 2% increase in the rates charged for the City's Municipal Sewer service in the amount of $56.93 per quarter with an effective date of October 1, 1999. The motion for adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember Hendriksen, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Gamec Councilmember Zimmerman Councilmember Hendriksen Councilmember Anderson Councilmember Connolly and the following voted against: None
