Councilmember Anderson introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION #99-11-209 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF ANOKA-HENNEPIN TECHNICAL COLLEGE <br /> <br /> WItEREAS, Anoka-Hennepin Technical College (AHTC) has served the community <br />well since 1967; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, AHTC provides the prime basis of skilled employees for industrial services <br />in the area and to Ramsey industrial businesses; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the needs of employers for vocationally educated employees are increasing <br />at a substantial rate; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, AHTC provides a variety of opportunities or workers to quickly acquire <br />upgraded job skills; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, AHTC provides a variety of opportunities for affordable education for <br />people interested in hands-on education; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, AHTC is being targeted for potential closure by Minnesota State Colleges <br />and Universities (MnSCU). <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY TItE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />1) That the Ramsey City Council does hereby support the educational excellence of Anoka- <br /> Hennepin Technical College and requests the MnSCU Board of Trustees support AHTC <br /> to continue to provide quality education in the northwestern communities. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mayor Gamec, <br />and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br /> Mayor Garnet <br /> Councilmember Anderson <br /> Councilmember Connolly <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: <br /> <br /> Councilmember Hendriksen <br /> Councilmember Connolly <br /> <br /> <br />
