Councilmember Woestehoff introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> RESOLUTION #24-317 <br /> RESOLUTION APPROVING AGREEMENT WITH MINNESOTA METRO NORTH <br /> TOURISM (DBA TWIN CITIES GATEWAY) <br /> WHEREAS,the City of Ramsey, is in the process of implementing a lodging tax for hotels <br /> and motels with an effective date of January 6, 2025; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City and Minnesota Metro North Tourism (Dba Twin Cities Gateway) <br /> will need to enter into an agreement to manage and spend the lodging tax receipts to promote the <br /> City of Ramsey, provide additional lodging opportunities for Ramsey hotels and to process grants <br /> to utilize lodging tax dollars in the City of Ramsey; and <br /> WHEREAS, the implementation of the lodging tax needs to be approved by the City by <br /> Ordinance and sent to the State of Minnesota for approval and the city will retain 5% of lodging <br /> tax received; and <br /> WHEREAS, authorization and execution of the Agreement with Minnesota Metro North <br /> Tourism(dba Twin Cities Gateway)is contingent on the City adopting a Lodging Tax Ordinance; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, if the City determines it no longer wants to have Minnesota Metro North <br /> Tourism (Dba Twin Cities Gateway)manage 95% of the lodging receipts collected in Ramsey,the <br /> City can opt of the Agreement by providing one year's notice; and <br /> WHEREAS, a Right of Re-Entry Agreement will be recorded at the closing of this land <br /> transaction; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Minnesota Metro North Tourism is a company that is active and in good <br /> standing as documented in the Office of the Secretary of State as of November 7, 2024. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA <br /> COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> 1) The City Council authorizes the City Administrator and Mayor to execute the Agreement <br /> with Minnesota Metro North Tourism(Dba Twin Cities Gateway); contingent on the City <br /> adopting a Lodging Tax Ordinance; subject to City Attorney review. <br />
