Councilmember Woestehoff introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #24-317 RESOLUTION APPROVING AGREEMENT WITH MINNESOTA METRO NORTH TOURISM (DBA TWIN CITIES GATEWAY) WHEREAS,the City of Ramsey, is in the process of implementing a lodging tax for hotels and motels with an effective date of January 6, 2025; and WHEREAS, the City and Minnesota Metro North Tourism (Dba Twin Cities Gateway) will need to enter into an agreement to manage and spend the lodging tax receipts to promote the City of Ramsey, provide additional lodging opportunities for Ramsey hotels and to process grants to utilize lodging tax dollars in the City of Ramsey; and WHEREAS, the implementation of the lodging tax needs to be approved by the City by Ordinance and sent to the State of Minnesota for approval and the city will retain 5% of lodging tax received; and WHEREAS, authorization and execution of the Agreement with Minnesota Metro North Tourism(dba Twin Cities Gateway)is contingent on the City adopting a Lodging Tax Ordinance; and WHEREAS, if the City determines it no longer wants to have Minnesota Metro North Tourism (Dba Twin Cities Gateway)manage 95% of the lodging receipts collected in Ramsey,the City can opt of the Agreement by providing one year's notice; and WHEREAS, a Right of Re-Entry Agreement will be recorded at the closing of this land transaction; and WHEREAS, the Minnesota Metro North Tourism is a company that is active and in good standing as documented in the Office of the Secretary of State as of November 7, 2024. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: 1) The City Council authorizes the City Administrator and Mayor to execute the Agreement with Minnesota Metro North Tourism(Dba Twin Cities Gateway); contingent on the City adopting a Lodging Tax Ordinance; subject to City Attorney review.
