<br />Councilmember Buscher introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #25-253 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A FISHING PIER FROM THE MINNESOTA DNR FOR <br />THE WATERFRONT <br /> <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Ramsey City Council and the Park & Recreation Commission recognize the <br />importance of a diversity of Parks, Trails, Open Space and Recreation to the quality of life for <br />Ramsey residents; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Community Parks like The Waterfront, even within an urban area can <br />provide natural-resourced based recreation; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, recreational fishing has a long-cherished history in Minnesota—and is a <br />beloved pastime, connecting families with fun memories, and tales of the ‘one that got away’; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, shore fishing access can be an economical and an easy way to introduce new <br />residents and visitors to the restorative benefits of angling in a safe park setting; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Minnesota DNR and its ‘Fishing in the Neighborhood’ (FiN) program, is <br />a logical and welcome partner in facilitating all the favorable and wholesome values that <br />opportunities to fish close to home provide. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA: <br /> <br />1) That, up to fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000), are hereby allocated from the Park Trust <br />Fund, for the development of an ADA compliant path down the bank of The Waterfront <br />to access the pier, and to create several stone shore fishing nodes around the pond; and <br /> <br />th <br />2) That, The Waterfront Public Fishing Pier Cooperative Agreement, dated October 28, <br />2025 and attached to this case is hereby approved in accordance with conditions and <br />responsibilities named therein. <br /> <br />The motion for adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Specht, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br /> Mayor Heineman <br /> Councilmember Buscher <br /> Councilmember Specht <br /> Councilmember Olson <br /> Councilmember Peters <br /> Councilmember Riley <br /> <br /> <br />
