PUBLIC I~E~ARING <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey Planning Commission conducted a public hearing on Tuesday, November 2, 1998, at <br />the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota, regarding a <br />request for a home occupation permit; case ofRenee Juliano. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Acting Chairperson Benjamin Deemer <br />Commissioner Leo Anderson <br />Commissioner Charles LaDue <br />Commissioner Joe Wivoda <br /> <br />Members Absent: <br /> <br />Chairperson David Bawden <br />Commissioner Sharon Jensen <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik <br />Community Development Director Cindy Sherman <br />Community Development Assistant Scan Walther <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Acting Chairperson Deemer convened the public hearing at 7:38 p.m. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION <br /> <br />Zoning Administrator Frolik explained Ms. Juliano is proposing to establish a one-chair barber <br />shop in her home. City Code restricts home occupations to 20-percent of the gross floor area of <br />the home. The room in which the home occupation will be conducted is 110 square feet which <br />equates to 5-percent of the gross floor area. Ms. Juliano will be the sole employee. She expects <br />to service a maximum of 40 clients per week and operate four days a week. Ms. Juliano has <br />statements of support from four neighboring property owners. One letter of opposition was <br />received. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />Paul Anderson, 14643 Waco Street NW, indicated not opposing the business, however, opposed <br />parking in the cul-de-sac and on Waco Street NW. Ms. Juliano explained she would only be <br />working with one client at a time and all parking would be in her own driveway. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner LaDue, seconded by Acting Chairperson Deemer, to enter the one letter <br />of opposition and the four letters of support for the applicants request into the public hearing <br />record. <br /> <br />Public Hearing/Planning Commission/November 2, 1998 <br /> Page I of 2 <br /> <br /> <br />
