COUNCIL WORK SESSION <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council conducted a work session on Saturday, January 28, 1995, at the <br />Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Glen Hardin <br />Councilmember Carolyn Beahen <br />Councilmember Sheila Beyer <br />Councilmember Kenneth Peterson <br />Counciknember Gerald Zimmerman <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator Ryan Schroeder <br />Finance Officer Jessie Hart <br />City Engineer Steve Jankowski <br />Police Sergeant Dave Gustafson <br /> <br />Audience: <br /> <br />Terry Hendriksen <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />The work session was called to order at 8:10 a.m. <br /> <br />Council made the following suggestions: <br /> <br />1. Shorten the discussion narrative for meeting minutes. <br /> <br />2. Provide all Staff meetings periodically with guest speakers. <br /> <br />3. The City Administrator should attend more departmental meetings. <br /> <br />Agenda Meetings now held on Thursdays following Council should result in draft <br />cover sheets forwarded to Council. <br /> <br />Major ordinance or policy changes should be forwarded to Council well in advance <br />of requested action. <br /> <br />Case background in agendas should be limited; if material has been in previous <br />agenda, refer to it rather than provide another copy; provide committee agendas in <br />packet without separate committee packet. <br /> <br />Bring back improve, ed policy on service and purchasing bid procedure and discuss <br />expansion of engineering bidders list. <br /> <br />Provide a business newsletter and include periodic columns from departments such <br />as "how to protect property" by the Police Department. <br /> <br />Council should meet independently at least quarterly; Staff should schedule and <br />post first meeting. Business licensing should be on this meeting. <br /> <br />10. Revisit sign ordinance and ensure that businesses have received a copy. <br /> <br /> <br />
