PUBLIC HEARING
BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
CITY OF RAMSEY
ANOKA COUNTY
STATE OF MINNESOTA

The RamseyBoard of Adjustment conducted a public hearing on Tuesday, September 7, 1993 at
the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota to hear
input regardi!a~ g a request for a variance to construct an accessory structure that will be nearer the
front pr?erty line than the principal structure and that will encroach on the thoroughfare setback;
case of James M¢Chesney.

Members Prer, ent:

Chairperson Terry Hendriksen
Board Member David Bawden
Board Member Benjamin Deemer
Board Member Paul Holland
Board Member Charles LaDue
Board Member Michael Terry
Board Member Bradley Thomd

Also Present:

Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik

CALL TO ORDER

Chairperson Hendriksen called the public hearing to order at 8:20 p.m.
PRESENTATION

Zoning Administrator Frolik stated that James McChesney resides at 15429 Sunfish Lake
Boulevard N.W. and is proposing to construct a 750 square foot accessory structure that will be
closer to the front property line than the home and will encroach on the thoroughfare setback from
Sunfish Lake Boulevard N.W. She explained that topography in the rear yard declines rapidly and
would requi~' a substantial amount of fill and removal of very mature trees to access. She noted
that there is substantial tree growth between the proposed building and Sunfish Lake Boulevard
N.W. to provide screening.

CITIZEN INPUT

James McChesney, the applicant, stated he put up a swimming pool in the proposed area in 1972
with 8-foot walls, intending to eventually put up this building. He explained that he plans to store
his recreational vehicle in the building to keep it out of site. He feels the building will only add
value to the property, because it will be an attractive building.

Ms. Frolik stated that Bill Wall, Mr. McChesney's neighbor, stopped by the City offices to state
his objections. She explained that he believes Mr. McChesney's front property line is farther back
than indicated and that the side property line is only 6 feet from the proposed building site.
Apparently there is some discrepancy regarding the location of the stakes, therefore Ms. Frolik
advised Mr. McChesney may also need a side yard setback variance.

ADJOURNMENT

Motion by Board Member Bawden and seconded by Board Member Deemer to adjourn the public
hearing.

Public Hearing/Board of Adjustment/September 7, 1993
Page 1 of 2
