PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey Park and Recreation Commission conducted a regular meeting on Thursday, May 13, <br />1993 at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Commissioner Todd Cook <br />Commissioner James Gookin <br />Commissioner Jay Swokowski <br /> <br />Members Absent: <br /> <br />Chairperson Ron Hefland (Excused) <br />Commissioner lacki Florentius <br />Commissioner Janice Johnson <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Coordinator Mark Boos <br />Resident, Teresa Henn <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Vice-Chairperson Swokowski called the regular Park and Recreation Commission meeting to order <br />at 7:07 p.m. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />APPROVE AGENDA <br /> <br />Motion by Vice-Chairperson Swokowski and approved by consensus to approve the memorandum <br />from Mark Boos dated May 7, 1993 as the agenda as presented. <br /> <br />COMMISSION BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: Park & Recreation Commission Vacancy <br /> <br />Teresa Henn, a 6 year Ramsey resident from the Northfork subdivision, expressed an interest in <br />filling the vacancy left by Commissioner Prall. Vice-Chairperson Swokowski invited Ms. Henn to <br />provide some background information to the Commissioners. An informal question and answer <br />period followed. Commissioner Gookin indicated the need to address long range goals for the <br />Commission and Ms. Henn felt that she would be able to help in this area. Commissioner Cook <br />inquired as to how Ms. Henn might handle a given situation with relation to conflict of interest. <br />Ms. Henn indicated that personal feelings would have to be put aside and the decision would have <br />to be based on the' benefits of the community at large. <br /> <br />Motion by Vice-Chairperson Swokowski and approved by consensus to recommend to the City <br />Council to appoint Ms. Henn to ~l the vacancy left by Commissioner Prall. <br /> <br />COMMISSION INPUT <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Coordinator Boos conveyed to the Commission the concerns of a resident living <br />north of Hunters Hill park regarding dandelions. The resident advocated herbicides to control <br />dandelions in the park based on the notion that the dandelions are going to seed and propagate the <br /> <br />Park and Recreation Commission/May 13, 1993 <br /> Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br /> <br />
