BUDGET WORKSHOP <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Rams~y~ Bk!dget Committee conducted a Budget Workshop meeting on Tuesday, August 18, <br />1992 at tha Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members lh'esem: <br /> <br />Councilmember Kenneth Peterson <br />Councilmember Sheila Beyer <br /> <br />Members Absent: <br />Also Prese!~t: <br /> <br />CALL TO oRDER <br /> <br />Councilmember Glen Hardin <br /> <br />City Administrator Ryan Schroeder <br />Finance Officer Sandra Ashley Helling <br />Personnel Coordinator Kay McAloney <br />Public Works Supervisor Merle Mevissen <br />City Engineer Steven Jankowski <br />Parks/Utilities Coordinator Mark Boos <br />Police Chief Michael Auspos <br />Police Sergeant David Gustafson <br />Anoka-Hennepin Community Education Manager Steven Kerr <br /> <br />Councilmember peterson called the Budget Workshop meeting to order at 5:28 p.m. <br />CITIZEN: INPUT <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />APPROVE AGENDA <br /> <br />Consensus Was to approve the agenda as presented. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: SUmmary of 1993 General Fund Budget Requests <br /> <br />Finance Officer Helling stated that at this point all of Staff's requests have been listed; none have <br />been rejected. 'Fhe most significant request is $2.1 million for a new Public Works facility and <br />land. This request has been removed for purposes of discussion and will be dealt with separately. <br /> <br />Public Works facility: With regard to the request for the $100,000 for land for the Public Works <br />facility, CoOrlcilmember Peterson expressed surprise that the land at the Municipal Center wasn't <br />being considered. <br /> <br />Discussion: ensued regarding the $2.1 million request for the Public Works facility. <br />Councilme~ber Beyer felt that the City should be able to come up with some creative financing to <br />set aside at Ieast half the dollars needed for the facility and the remainder could be borrowed. <br /> <br />Mrs. Helling questioned if it would be reasonable to borrow from the Landfill Trust Fund to pay <br />back from tlie: General Fund over the years and if it would be an interst bearing loan. <br /> <br />Budget Committee Workshop/August 18, 1992 <br /> Page I of 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
