<br />ORDINANCE #08-07 <br /> <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />AN AMENDMENT TO CHAPTER 9 WHICH IS KNOWN AS THE ZONING <br />AND SUBDIVISION OF LAND CHAPTER OF THE CITY CODE OF RAMSEY, <br />MINNESOTA. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 9.01 "DEFINITIONS" and SECTION <br />9.12 "SIGNS" OF CHAPTER NINE OF CITY CODE <br /> <br />The City of Ramsey ordains: <br /> <br />SECTION 1 <br /> <br />AUTHORITY <br /> <br />This ordinance is adopted pursuant to and under the authority ofthe City Charter of the <br />City of Ramsey. <br /> <br />SECTION 2 AMENDMENTS. The followin2: Si2:n Ordinance shall <br />be amended to read: <br /> <br />9.12 Signs <br /> <br />9.12.01 Purpose. The purpose of this Section is to protect and promote the <br />general welfare, health, safety and order within the City of Ramsey through the <br />establishment of a comprehensive and impartial series of standards, regulations and <br />procedures governing the erection, use and/or display of devices, signs or symbols <br />serving as a visual communicative media to persons situated within or upon public right- <br />of-ways or properties. The provisions of this Section are intended to encourage <br />creativity, a reasonable degree of freedom of choice, an opportunity for effective <br />communication and a sense of concern for the visual amenities on the part of those <br />designing and displaying communicative media for the types regulated by this Section, <br />while at the same time assuring that the public health and welfare is not endangered. <br /> <br />9.12.02 Definitions. The following words and terms wherever they occur in this <br />Code shall be construed as herein defined. Words not defined shall be interpreted in <br />accordance with definitions in any standard dictionary. <br /> <br />Abandoned Sign - A sign which no longer identifies or advertises a bona <br />fide business, lesser, service, owner, product, or activity, and/or for which no legal owner <br />can be found. <br /> <br />Ordinance #08-07 <br />Page 1 of 19 <br />
