FIRE BOARD <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramses:Fire Board conducted a regular meeting on Wednesday, May 20, 1992 at the Ramsey <br />Municipal I~ t~teri 15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: Councilmember Kenneth Peterson <br /> Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br /> Boardmember Dean Kapler <br /> Boardmember Alan Pearson <br /> Boardmember James Sharp <br /> Boardmember Robert Simpson <br /> City Administrator Ryan Schroeder <br /> Fire Chief David Griffin (ex-officio) <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Councilmeraber Peterson called the regular meeting of the Fire Board to order at 6:03 p.m. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />APPROVE~ AGENDA <br /> <br />Consensus was to approve the agenda as presented. <br /> <br />BOARD BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: Chapter 2 of the Ramsey City Code <br />City Adminigtrat°r Schroeder stated that at the last Fire Board meeting, an item of discussion was <br />how many vpgng!members could be on the Fire Board and whether additional members could be <br />on the Boar6that .tlid not vote. The Code states the Board can have up to nine voting members and <br />an unduly ntlmbe~ of non-voting (ex-officio) members. <br /> <br />Boardmemb~r Kapler mentioned that this issue came up because of the excellent applicants <br />applying for !he, vacancy on the Board. Mr. Russ Peterson, one of the applicants, had a <br />tremendous amoui~t of experience and knowledge he could offer to the Fire Department. <br /> <br />City Admini~trat0r Schroeder stated that the position of the City Council has been that in order to <br />be a voting ember of a Board or you must a <br /> . ~ . Commission, also be Ramsey Resident. He stated <br />that since heilB not, he could e~ther step down as a voting member or "ride out his term". <br /> <br />CouncilmenlbCr Pcterson commented that it would be adding one more non-Staff, non-Council and <br />non-Fire Department member and suggested the Fire Department be asked their opinion on adding <br />another merflber. <br /> <br />Fire Chief Griffin suggested that a certain amount of interest should be displayed in the Fire <br />Department ~.ven before this position is open. <br /> <br />Fire Board/May 20, 1992 <br /> Page 1 of 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
