ORDINANCE #08-25 <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />AN AMENDMENT TO CHAPTER 9 WHICH IS KNOWN AS THE ZONING AND <br />SUBDIVISION OF LAND CHAPTER OF THE CITY CODE OF RAMSEY, <br />MINNESOTA. <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 9.01 "DEFINITIONS" and SECTION 9.12 <br />"SIGNS" OF CHAPTER NINE OF CITY CODE <br />The City of Ramsey ordains: <br />SECTION 1 AUTHORITY <br />This ordinance is adopted pursuant to and under the authority of the City Charter of the City of <br />Ramsey. <br />SECTION 2 AMENDMENTS <br />Section 9.12 (Signs) shall be amended to read as follows: <br />9.12 Signs <br />9.12.01 Purpose. The purpose of this Section is to protect and promote the general <br />welfare, health, safety and order within the City of Ramsey through the establishment of a <br />comprehensive and impartial series of standards, regulations and procedures governing the <br />erection, use and/or display of devices, signs or symbols serving as a visual communicative <br />media to persons situated within or upon public right-of-ways or properties. The provisions of <br />this Section are intended to encourage creativity, a reasonable degree of freedom of choice, an <br />opportunity for effective communication and a sense of concern for the visual amenities on the <br />part of those designing and displaying communicative media for the types regulated by this <br />Section, while at the same time assuring that the public health and welfare is not endangered. <br />9.12.02 Definitions. The following words and terms wherever they occur in this Code <br />shall be construed as herein defined. Words not defined shall be interpreted in accordance with <br />definitions in any standard dictionary. <br />Abandoned Sign — A sign which no longer identifies or advertises a bona fide <br />business, lesser, service, owner, product, or activity, and/or for which no legal owner can be <br />found. <br />
