NEGOTIATING COMMITTEE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Negotiating Committee held a meeting with the LELS Bargaining Unit on Friday, February <br />22, 1991, at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota <br />55303. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Councilmember Sheila Beyer <br />Councilmember Kenneth Peterson <br />Personnel Coordinator Kay McAloney <br />Police Chief Michael Auspos <br />Police Officer James Way <br />Police Officer David Gustafson <br />Police Officer Robert Kuhn <br /> <br />Members Absent: Councilmember Glen Hardin <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Recording Secretary Jo Thieling <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 3:15 p.m. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />COMMITTEE BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: <br /> <br />Labor Negotiations with LELS Bargaining Unit for 1991 <br /> <br />Councilmember Peterson stated that the previous negotiations with the AFSCME Bargaining Unit <br />were based on the Stanton Group 5 cities. He added that the City is still uncertain about future <br />budget cuts. He commented that with the new City Council, the feeling is of a more "hands-on <br />philosophy". He added that this is the first time City Council has been involved in the <br />negotiations. He hoped the Police Department believed the Council was here to benefit the City <br />and its employees. <br /> <br />The Council and the Bargaining Unit proceeded to review the Employer Response to the 1/22/91 <br />LELS Union Proposal. <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />.Wages:. LELS asked for a 5.5% increase, the City is offering 3.5% effective January 1, <br />1991. <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />Medical Insurance: The request was for $247.00 per month City contribution. The offer is <br />for an increase to $220.00 per month. <br /> <br />3) <br /> <br />Holidays: The request was for an additional 1/2 day. The offer is for an additional 1/2 <br />holiday for Christmas Eve.
