Councilmember Pearson introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #03-01-025 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE REORGANIZATION OF THE POLICE <br />DEPARTEMNT <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Public Safety Board met on January 16th and discussed a proposed re- <br />organization of the Police Department to create a Captain position and eliminate the positon of <br />Corporal; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Public Safety Board has recommended to the City Council that the <br />proposed re-organization be considered by City Council; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, staff has researched the fiscal and organizational impacts of the proposed <br />re-organization; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the proposed re-organization would have a fiscal impact of $820 for 2003, <br />which has been included in the 2003 budget for Police personnel; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the proposed re-organization would provide for more clear definition of the <br />role of second in command within the Department and provide for increased supervision for each <br />of the three daily shifts conducted by the Department; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Personnel Committee has reviewed the request for re-organization and <br />along with staff recommends the proposed re-organization to the City Council. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />City Council authorizes the re-organization of the Police Department and establishes the <br />position of Captain to replace the position of First Sergeant and establishes an additional <br />Sergeant position and eliminates the position of Corporal. <br /> <br />2) City Council authorizes the additional funding of $820 that was included in the 2003 budget <br /> for Police personnel for the additional Sergeant position. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Council member <br />Elvig, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec <br />Councilmember Pearson <br />Councilmember Elvig <br />Councilmember Kurak <br />Councilmember Stommen <br />Councilmember Zimmerman <br /> <br /> <br />
