BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
PUBLIC HEARING
CITY OF RAMSEY
ANOKA COUNTY
STATE OF MINNESOTA

The Ramsey Board of Adjustment conducted a public hearing on Wednesday, November
7, 1990 at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W., Ramsey,
Minnesota regarding Dorothy Schleper's request for a variance from front yard setback
requirements.

Members Present:

Mr. Terry Hendriksen, Chairman
Mr. Charles LaDue
Mr. Benjamin Deemer
Mr. Michael Terry
Mr. Bradley Thorud
Mr. David Bawden (Arrived 7:09 p.m.)

Also Present:

City Engineer Steven Jankowski
Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik

Members Absent: Mr. Gerald Zimmerman

CALL TO ORDER

Chairman Hendriksen called the public hearing to order at 7:07 p.m.

PRESENTATION

Mr. Jankowski stated that he is present at the hearing representing Dorothy Schleper's
request for a variance because the need results from a City improvement project to extend
153rd Avenue N.W. Mr. Jankowski explained that Dorothy Schleper's property is
affected by the extension of 153rd Avenue N.W. and the City is proposing to relocate the
home on the subject property rather than relocating to another property. The house would
be in conformance with all setback requirements with the exception of the 40 foot front
yard setback. Mr. Jankowski stated that it will be necessary to place the home
approximately 30 feet from the front property line so as not to place the home too close to
the structure that is currently used to house horses. Mr. Jankowski also noted that 153rd
Avenue N.W. is being constructed with an 80 foot right-of-way and with the variance, the
house would only be 3 feet closer to the travelled portion of the roadway than if it were a
house located on a City street with a 66 foot right-of-way.

CITIZEN INPUT

None.

Board of Adjustment Public Hearing / November 7, 1990
Page 1 of 2
