This week's storm was a difficult one on a number of fronts. First, it
was difficult to ascertain watching several weather channels and using our own weather service
just how much accumulation we were to receive. The difference in just a few degrees made it
difficult to know whether there would be rain or snow. At 3:30 am on Wednesday, the Public
Works Director made the decision to call in the plow drivers and begin at 5 am removing snow
from all City Streets. At the time, there was just 2 -3 inches of snow on the ground with more to
come. Between 3:30 am and 8:30 am, we received an additional 5 -6 inches of snow and it was
very heavy, laden with moisture.
