February 3, 2006
Mr. Christopher Riley
15120 Ute Street NW
Ramsey, MN 55303
ncerel
nna Reed
Human Resources Manager
15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW • Ramsey, Minnesota 55303
City Hall: (763) 427 -1410 • Fax: (763) 427 -5543
www.ci.ramsey.mn.us
RE: City of Ramsey Attendance Policy for Board and Commission Members
Dear Mr. Riley:
A recent review of board and commission attendance records indicates that during 2005 there were
board and commission members who missed three regularly scheduled meetings in a six month
period. This is technically a violation of the City's Attendance Policy for Board and Commission
Members.
The City Council asked that I contact board and commission chairpersons to request that you discuss
the specifics of the attendance policy with commissioners who are having difficulty attending
regularly scheduled meetings. The City's attendance policy is as follows:
The absence of a Board or Commission member from three or more regularly
scheduled meetings of his /her board or commission within any six (6) month period
shall be cause for removal of that member from his or her seat on the board or
commission. The City Council shall have the authority to remove board or commission
members for violation of this policy.
Although the City Council has decided not to remove commissioners who have not met attendance
requirements during 2005, in future years the City Council may decide to fully enforce the
attendance policy. Please discuss the importance of regular attendance with commissioners as a
group or one -on -one, as you deem appropriate.
If you have any questions, or if the City can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact
me or the City Administrator, Mr. Jim Norman.
