Our "Field"
Correspondent, Mark Riverblood, reports that at least one Snowy Owl has been observed daily in
The COR and within the Hwy #10 ROW near Armstrong Boulevard for the past week. The
December influx of the stunning raptors (about the size of a Great Horned Owl) has been witnessed
in both Minnesota and Wisconsin. The irregular winter `invasions' or `irruptions' as they are
known by birders occur when snow, coupled with cold and early winter comes to their Artie and
tundra habitat in Alaska and Canada — causing them to migrate southward for prey.
