The
frost in the ground is very deep, which is causing pipes to freeze in some areas. We want to make
residents aware of this issue and provide information that may be helpful to homeowners to avoid
the possibility of pipes freezing at their home. We are finding that freezing is occurring in the
"City" portion of the lines, under streets, possibly due to the lack of snow cover on the streets
which acts as insulation. Consequently, if City Staff has notified a resident with a door hanger, or
verbally, to run water in their home around the clock, the City will credit their water bill
accordingly and charge them the water usage that they used last year at this time. Attached to the
Weekly Update is a Short Article Regarding Frozen Water Lines that was Published in the "In
the News" section of the City website. Frozen water service at Accent Wood Products, 6250
McKinley Street resulted in the business's staff needing to monitor the building 24 hours a day
until water service is restored due to inoperable fire suppression systems.
