JOINT CITY COUNCIL AND PLANNING AND ZONING <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council and Planning and Zoning Commission conducted a <br />joint meeting on Tuesday, April 14, 1987 at the Ramsey Municipal Center, <br />15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Gary Reimann <br />Councilmember Arnie Cox <br />Councilmember A1Sorteberg <br />Councilmember Steve DeLuca <br />Councilmember A1 Pearson <br />Mr. Ken Peterson, Chairman, Planning & Zoning <br />Mr. Charles LaDue, Planning & Zoning <br />Mr. Jim Howell, Planning & Zoning <br />Mr. Roy Shumway, Planning & Zoning <br />Mr. Gerald Zimmerman, Planning & Zoning <br />Mr. Ben Deemer, Planning & Zoning <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator David Hartley <br />Community Development Director Anne Norris <br />City Attorney William Goodrich <br /> <br />Members Absent: Mr. Terry Hendriksen, Planning & Zoning <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Reimann called the joint City Council and Planning and Zoning meeting <br />to order at 9:00 a.m. <br /> <br />D%SCUSSION ITEMS <br /> <br />1) Discussion Re~arding Subdivisions: <br /> <br />Ms. Norris stated that Ramsey allows cul-de-sacs up to 600 feet in length <br />and does not require multiple accesses to plats. In checking with other <br />cities, it has been found that they allow 500-600 foot cul-de-sacs and also <br />do not address multiple accesses. Maple Grove has an option called <br />'premature plat' that can be used if it is determined that a plat does not <br />have adequate accesses to accommodate two years of growth. <br /> <br />Councilmember DeLuca stated that in relation to this discussion regarding <br />planning for future roadways, one of the star city tasks is to prepare a <br />grid map of roads within the city. Councilmember DeLuca suggested that the <br />city's grid map be resurrected and updated; Planning and Zoning could then <br />refer to it when reviewing plats. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cox stated that another problem consistent with planning for <br />future roadways is future subdivision of parcels and the follow through as <br />City Council-Planning & Zoning/April 14, 1987 <br /> <br />Page 1 of 5 <br /> <br /> <br />
