The City of Ramsey will once again host an American Red <br />Cross Blood Drive on Tuesday, May 5, from 8:00 am — 1:45 pm, in the Alexander Ramsey Room <br />at City Hall. The Spring Recycling Day event is scheduled for <br />Saturday, May 2, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Public Works facility. The purpose of the event <br />is to provide residents an opportunity to properly dispose of items that are generally not accepted <br />through the curbside recycling program, including appliances, electronics, batteries, fluorescent <br />bulbs, scrap metal and tires. Standard recyclables, such as newspaper, cardboard, cans, bottles <br />etc., are also accepted. Mattresses and box springs in any condition will be accepted. The event <br />also includes free document destruction (paper shredding) for residents to securely dispose of <br />papers containing personal data ( limit of 5 boxes per vehicle and free disposal of used oil, oil <br />filters and antifreeze. Attached to the Weekly Update is a Spring Recycling Day Flyer and Post <br />Card that went to each household. <br />Ramsey Police Officers Dixon and Webb Awarded Medal of Honor. On Tuesday, April 21, <br />2015, Ramsey Police Officers Jerad Dixon and Rich Webb were awarded the Medal of Honor by <br />the MN Chiefs of Police Association (MCPA) for their valorous actions in an officer involved <br />shooting in August 2014. The Medal of Honor is awarded for actions in a single event which <br />demonstrate bravery, heroism, and /or self - sacrifice; clearly distinguishing the individual for <br />gallantry and bravery under life - threating circumstances.
