PLANNING AND ZONING/PARK AND RECREATION <br /> JOINT COMMISSION MEETING <br /> CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey Planning and Zoning Commission and Park and Recreation Commission <br />conducted a joint meeting on Tuesday, August 26, 1986 at the Ramsey Municipal <br />Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mr. Ken Peterson, P & Z Chair <br />Mr. Ben Deemer, P & Z <br />Mr. Gerry Zimmerman, P & Z <br />Mr. John Lichter, Park and Rec <br />Ms. Marleen Looyen, Park and Rec <br />Mr. Jim Howell, P & Z <br />Mr. Roy Shumway, P & Z <br />Mr. Terry Hendriksen, P & Z <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Anne Norris, Community Development Director <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Planning and Zoning Chair Ken Peterson called the meeting to order at 7:38 p.m. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />COMMISSION BUSINESS <br /> <br />Chairman Peterson explained that the Planning Commission requested th is joint <br />meeting to discuss concerns regarding parks and the Park Commission's role in <br />various procedures including recommendations regarding park dedication <br />requirements. <br /> <br />Discussion Regarding Park Commission's Plans and Ideas on a Park <br />System in R~msev <br /> <br />Commissioner Lichter stated that the Park Commission has had problems in the <br />past with park dedications in that the City has often accepted low areas and <br />swamps. At this time, the Park Commission feels that there is not a large need <br />for neighborhood parks as most of the residential development in the City is on <br />large lots. However, as smaller lots are platted, there will be a larger <br />demand for neighborhood parks. At the present time, the emphasis of the Park <br />Commission is the development of Central Park and other central facilities. <br /> <br />Discussion Regarding Functions of Park Commission <br /> <br />Chairman Peterson noted that in the past, there seems to have been little staff <br />support for park design, planning, meetings, etc. Commissioner Lichter agreed <br />August 26, 1986 <br /> Joint Commission Meeting <br /> <br /> <br />
