City of Ramsey Parks & Recreation Commission
Minutes of Meeting
April 21, 1977

T~ meeting was called to order at 7:40 p.m. by chairperson Kathy Schneider.
Present were Michele Olson, Kathy Schneider, John Zobava and Darrell Jensen.

Darrell Jensen made a motion to approve the agenda, and the minutes of the
March 10, 1977 meeting. John Zobava seconded. Approved 4-0.

Kathy Schneider read a letter from Mr. Haugejorden, that had been sent to
the city council, then referred to the park oommission. The letter was
concerning the purchase of a piece of land adjoining Nm. HaugeJordens' pr~-
perty, in Greenland Hills. Kathy Schn~cider suggested that the commission
aL1 go to look at the land and then make a recommendation at the next meeting.

A Booklet "Perspectives" was introduced to the commission. Kathy Schneider
said the commission should read through it and see if it pertains to our city
parks and recreation.

The Metro Council sent a letter on the Proposed Criteria for 'review of
LAWCON/LCMR applications; reminding us to get the adoption of our Comprehensive
Park Plan approved for the upcoming available funds.

Tim Paquette went to the Metro Council with our Comprehensive Park Plan.
They thought it was a very good plan and they hoped the city comacil would
approve it. The ~lan will be ~n~the agenda for the next council meeting on
Monday, April 25, 1977. The land dedication changes in the park plan were
made. There are still parts of the plan that have to be retyped.

The commis~ion then looked over the budget. There was little discussion.

John Zobava stated he would definitely like to know if the c~ ty eouncil
plans to act on the recommendations made at our January 17, 1977 meeting,
regarding the warming.

Kathy Schneider brought to the commissions attention that General Mills
is in the process of signing a lease with DNR, for their property in Ramsey.
John Zobava said his feelings were that it is cheating the residents of
Ramsey out of their own recreational area; also, that it-will be taken
over by outside residents and ruin the environmental future of the land.

The next meeting of this commission is scheduled for Thursday, May 20, 1977.

Michele Olson tried to contact Craig Fiedler numerous times. His phone
had been disconnected. He has missed many meetings; and had mentioned that
he had his house up for sale. We feel due to these circumstances, there is
another vacancy on the commission.

John Zobava made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Kathy Schneider seconded.
All in favor. The meeting was adjourned at 9:25 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Michele O1son, Secretary
