City of Ramsey Parks ~ Recreation Commission <br /> Minutes of Meeting <br /> April 22, 1976 <br /> <br />Present: Fre~t Ritchie, Robert Cushman, Jerry Manthey, Kathy Schneider, <br /> Ken Peterson, John Zobova, Leonard Vereeken. <br /> <br />Meeting wa,'~ called to order, at' 7:40 P.M. by Mr. Ritchieo The minutes <br />of March ]_8, 1976 were approved as read. <br /> <br />The t~u~r'et Analysis prepared by Mr. Walker was read by the Commission <br />members. <br /> <br />Jerry Manthey mentioned that the hockey rink should have been staked <br />immediately after ~he spring thaw. The rink should_now be secured <br />for u~;e this winter. It was agreed ~hat the maintenance Dep~Ftment <br />check on ~ cost of laying a clay base for more efficient f~0oding <br />and als~ on' the cost of lighting. It was suggested that they contact <br />other cities regarding the lighting used on their hockey rihkSo <br /> <br />It ,.,/as a?reed that Satellites be placed at Brookview and the School <br />if al]oWedo The price figur'es were ~51o95/ .per unit/ per month ~? <br />weekly maintenance and If~'~.~/ per unit/per month @ bi-weekly main- <br />tenance. '?~e Commission felt the Maintenaace D~~~e <br />the need for maintenance. They should be in use ~%=~:ri~-~~ <br /> <br />The Commission agreed that steps should be installed at Brookview this <br />summer. The maintenance De. pt. should decide what type of step (eg. <br />cement block, railroad tie ect.) is needed with a cost figure for the <br /> ' ~ ' If railroad ties could be used it was suggested they <br />Co mrql.~s3 oil. <br />contact Burlington Northern for o~d used ties. <br /> <br />There was some discussion regarding warming facilities for the hockey <br />rf.nko Tim Paquette should contact either Ken Peterson or John Zobova <br />for ideas and suggestions on this matter. Jo~oba',J~, <br /> <br />Mrs. Oliphant was present to explain her desire to see a Nature Center <br />in ~amsey. She suggested this be a community program but felt that the <br />Park & Recreation Commission members would be interested also. She <br />explained various aspects of such a program to the Commission~ The members <br />appreciated the thought of community involvement. <br /> <br />The Comr,~ission examined the plat presented by Dr. Anderson. After <br />discussion, the Come, lesion 'agreed that they would prefer the donation <br />of money instead of the land. The only way the land would be acceptable <br />would be with river access and full road width access. As it is the <br />members felt that we would be providing a private backyard for the <br />re,;J dents of that development only. <br /> <br />~esb].ution: The Commission members agrmed that under Subdivsion ~6 <br />the Chairman should be chosen by his fellow Comm~sion members instead <br />of the M~yor. They also would like the Compensation for Secretary <br />be Jnc].uded in the ~esolution'. <br /> <br />The Comm-'~'o' <br /> ~ .... .,].on would like to know what plans the Council had for any <br />mon~,y received by the City from developers in lieu of land. The <br />Comr~J,~;.~;ion ','~ould like to see this money used for Capital Improvements <br />b,¥ the Part~ ?,, l:~ecreation Com~.ission. <br /> <br /> <br />
