Norman <br />Assistant City Administrator Heidi Nelson <br />Finance Officer Diana Lund <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Dean Kapler <br />Community Development Director Sylvia Frolik <br />Assistant Director of Public Works Brian Olson <br />Assistant Community Developer Director Patrick Trudgeon <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the City Council Work Session to order at 5:36 p.m. <br /> <br />APPROVE AGENDA <br /> <br />· The agenda was approved as submitted. <br /> <br />COUNCIL TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION <br /> <br />1) NEMO Presentation <br /> <br />Julie Westerlund, Co~nmunity Assistance Coordinator for the DNR, gave a presentation on <br />Project NEMO (Nonpoint Education for Municipal Officials). She explained this project links <br />land use to water quality. She stated water quality is dependent on land use, which is decided at <br />the local level. Ms. Westerlund reviewed the effects of urbanization on streams, development <br />impacts on the water cycle, water quantity impacts, and the pollutants in polluted runoff. <br /> <br />Ms. Westerhmd reviewed the NEMO 3-tiered approach to water resource protection, which <br />includes the Following: <br /> <br />City Council Work Session/March 30, 2004 <br /> Page 1 of 12 <br /> <br /> <br />
