PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />Regular Meeting of June 16, 1983 <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m. <br /> <br />Members Present: John Lichter, Terry McLean, Ron Hetland <br /> <br />Members Absent: Dennis Donovan, Janice Johnson, Don Lokker, Bill Rustad <br /> <br />Others Present: Arnie Cox, Sylvia Gamec, Richard Sieber, Deputy Clerk <br /> Sheila Beyer <br /> <br />The plans and specifications for Central Park were examined and discussed <br />by those present. Sylvia Gamec is coordinating tree removal/relocation in <br />the construction area. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Hetland and seconded by Commissioner Lichter to <br />recommend that Council award the Central Park construction contract to the <br />low bidder. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Arnie Cox appeared to update the Commission on the park located east of <br />T. H. #47 north of County Road #116. The DNR and Mn/DoT have money available <br />for development of a canoe and boat access. The DNR stressed the need for <br />campsites accessible by canoe only. <br /> <br />Some discussion was held about the DNR's suggestion for camping on the site. <br />It was suggested we obtain further input from a DNR representative to present <br />their opinions on the development. We decided to ask Commissioner Rustad <br />to request the DNR to meet with the Commission. <br /> <br />Sylvia Gamec brought us up-to-date on Central Park development. Council- <br />members Gary Reimann and A1Sorteberg and Mr. Arnie Cox volunteered equip- <br />ment. The Lions have volunteered to build signs for Central Park and <br />T~tterud Park. <br /> <br />It was decided to place a discussion on the name of Central Park on the <br />Commission agenda at our next meeting. <br /> <br />The Planning and Zoning Commission has asked that we designate two members <br />to meet with Commissioners Bob Isakson and Ben Deemer to discuss park <br />dedication fees. Commissioner McLean will poll absent members and determine <br />who will serve on this subcommittee. <br /> <br />Dick Sieber met with the Park and Recreation Commission to receive input <br />from the citizens regarding the preparation of a City Charter.
