PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION
REGULAR MEETING OF April 21, 1983

Members Present:

Others Present:

John Lichter, Don Lokker, Bill Rustad, Dennis Donovan,
Janice Johnson and Ron Hetland

City Engineer Raatikka
Deputy Clerk Beyer
Sylvia Gamec

A motion by Hetland and seconded by Lokker was passed unanimously to accept
the minutes of the March 24, 1983 meeting.

Bill Rustad reported on his conversation with Mike Auspos regarding access
to the Rum River. Mike is not too concerned except that the area be re-
stricted with a locked cable.

The request by Roy Shumway was tabled on a motion by Hetland and second by
Lichter. The motion passed unanimously. The consensus of the Commission
was they would appreciate someone from the Rangers Saddle Club to explain
the expense for which reimbursement is requested.

Sylvia Gamec volunteered to serve as a community coordinator for development
of Central Park. She proposed to attempt to solicit advise, donations, equip-
ment, time, etc., from various interest groups around the City. Such groups
include RYAA, Lions, Jaycees, etc. A motion by Hetland and seconded by
Johnson approved unanimously to appoint Sylvia Gamec to this position which
would assist the commission in the development of this park.

City Engineer Raatikka presented a topo map prepared on the Central Park
site. Comments on the site from all parties were discussed about 40 minutes.
Priorities were set as follows:

l) construct 4-softball fields
2) install irrigation piping

Next year it was felt that a high capacity well should be installed. A
request will be made at the April 26, 1983 Council meeting to commit to
this project (the well construction).

Bob Peterson mentioned that the RYAA had lights donated to them from a
miniature golf course which could be used for tennis courts and parking
lots.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:05 P.M.

Respectfully submitted,

John Lichter
Secretary
