PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION
Regular Meeting of
October 27, 1982

Members Present: Dennis Donovan, Terry McLean, Ron Hetland, John Lichter

Others Present:

Jean Schlueter, Pat Eggers, member of Community School Advisory
Committee

The meeting was called to order at 7:09 p.m.

The minutes of the September 22, 1982 were read and approved unanimously.

The Federal Cartridge property still has not been acquired. Federal wants a
unanimous resolution from the City and a plan to develop the area.

Chairman Donovan noted that he inquired with Public Works Superintendent Mevissen
about the sliding hill at the Landfill. Waste Management is supposed to maintain
a slide area as part of their agreement.

Commissioner Hetland noted that a well pump was broken from the hockey rink area.
He will follow up with the Street Department.

On July 27th, the Council approved $73,000 for limited development of the Federal
Cartridge property. Funds are to come from the following sources:

Park Improvement Fund
Revenue Sharing
General Fund

$20,000
32,000
21,000

$73,000 Total

Jean Schlueter noted that a private party was trying to revive a park on the
Raudio property, however, bridge alignment is sqill a major hurdle in development
of this area.

The Commission discussed how it could possibly move the Federal Cartridge property
acquisition along faster. The Commission members decided the driving force for
acquisition must come from the Council. There was little else the Park and
Recreation Commission could do.

Chairman Donovan noted that some Community School activities for Grades 5-7 may
be sponsored by Ramsey School because Sandberg School cut some activity buses.
Pat Eggers discussed this problem and others facing the Community School program.

The meeting adjourned at 7:46 p.m.
