PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION Regular Meeting of July 22, 1982 Members Present: Dennis Donovan, Ron Hetland, Bill Rustad, John Lichter Others Present: None The meeting was called to order at 7:04 p.m. The May meeting minutes were approved on a motion by Commissioner Hetland and a second by Commissioner Lichter. Chairman Donovan related the Council meeting discussions regarding proposed improvements at Central Park. The Council felt the cost estimates were too high. Chairman Donovan then distributed a memorandum prepared by Building Official Berg regarding an alternate site (the Raudio property). Mr. Berg did not feel this site would offer an implementable alternative to Central Park. The June minutes were approved on a motion by Commiss~ioner Hettand and a second by Commissioner Rustad. Chairman Donovan distributed a statement summarizing the financing alternatives for the proposed improvements at Central Park. The project would have to be undertaken in 1983 under this plan. This financing option will be presented to the Council at their July 27th meeting. The City received a complaint from Mrs. Mary Hjelm, 17811 Erkium Street NW. City Administrator Schnelle responded to the complaint regarding Riverwood #1 Park. The Commission discussed the latter. A question was raised about who is responsible for maintaining the playground equipment donated by the Lion's Club. It was also noted that the weeds should be sprayed on the lower ball fields on the infield and the northwest field needs seeding work this fall. The Economic Development Commission requested the Park Commission to provide a statement on City parks. Commissioner Lichter was requested to prepare the statement.
