PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION
DECEMBER 18, 1980

Members Present: Dennis Donovan, Terry McLean, Janice Johnson, John
Lichter

Others Present: Councilwoman Elect Sue Van Wagner

After a motion by McLean seconded by Johnson, the October meeting minutes
were accepted. The November minutes were also approved after a motion by
Johnson and seconded by McLean. It was noted that the Council's presentation
date mentioned in the November minutes was changed to December 16.

Chairman Donovan discussed the results of the December 16 Council meeting.
They approved further work on the bond issue but with an 8% interest rate.
He also suggested we attend the Ramsey School Fun Day on March 7, 1981 to
answer questions about the bond issue.

The brochure for the bond issue mailing will cost $1,600 for 4,000 copies.
It will be 11" x 9" printed on both sides. Ideas discussed for the brochure
are summarized below:

1) Discuss annual cost to homeowner
2) Include a brief statement from the Mayor
3) Describe the history and philosphy of parks and note
that we have a comprehensive plan
4) Discuss percentage of park land that is useable
5) Include a map or sketch of the proposed improvements at
Central Park
6) Include resolutions of support from the RYAA, Lions,
Community School
7) Include any support statements we can obtain from business

Councilwoman Elect Sue Van Wagner suggested holding a contest to improve
some of the neighborhood parks. We could possibly furnish a cash prize and
publish notices in the City newsletter. This suggestion was noted by the
Co~ission for future consideration,

Chairman Donovan and John Lichter decided to draft language for the brochure
for consideration at the next meeting.

The meeting was adjourned at 7~45 P.M.

Respectfully submitted,

John Lichter
Secretary
