PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />Regular Meeting March 27, 1980 <br /> <br />Members Present: Janice Johnson, Dennis Donovan, John Lichter Terry McLean, <br /> Greg Drake and Don Lokker <br /> <br />Others Present: Thomas Gamec, Mayor; Bob Isakson, C.E.D.; Roy Shumway and <br /> Jim Gallager <br /> <br />The minutes of the February 21, 1980 regular meeting were approved mnanimously <br />by a motion by Johnson and seconded by McLean. <br /> <br />Mr. Sh~nway presented the 1980 Ramsey Rangers Saddle Club schedule. ~r. <br />Shumway wanted the City to "uphold it's end of the bargain on the horse <br />arena move from Titterud to Traprock Park." The site at Traprock has been <br />graded but no electricity is present. The first show is May 18 and they <br />need electricity on site. Der~nis Donovan indicated he would bring this <br />request before the Council at it's April 8, 1980 meeting. <br /> <br />Interviews were held with Consulting Engineers Diversified and Wehrman <br />Chapman and Associates. Bob Isakson appeared for C.E.D. and Jane Cinquina <br />and Keith Wehrman appeared for Wehrman Chapman. Handouts from both firms <br />were distributed after a lengthy discussion was undertaken a vote was <br />taken. The results were as follows: In favor of C.E.D., Johnson, Lokker <br />and Lichter; in favor of Wehrman Chapman, Donovan, Drake and McLean. It <br />was decided to refer the interview material and results to the Comncil for <br />'their consideration. <br /> <br />Chairman Donovan distributed copies of the Comprehensive Park Plan update <br />by Wehrman Chapman Associates. Commission members were instructed to review <br />the contents and offer comments at the April meeting. Similarly the Minnesota <br />Department of Transportation wants our input for designated bicycle routes <br />in Ramsey. Action on this request was tabled mntil the April meeting. <br /> <br />Lloyd Schnelle appeared and asked the Commission to consider changing the <br />park dedication requirements from a percentage of land area to a certain <br />value of land. Chairman Donovan responded that a recent survey of other <br />cities indicated that practices in Ramsey were in line. <br /> <br />The following sites for the community school roving playground were selected: <br />Peltzer, Forest Hideaway and Titterud Parks. <br /> <br />The meeting was adjourned at 10:45 P.M. <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br />John Lichter <br />Secretary <br /> <br /> <br />
