Ramsey Park and Recreation Committee Tour
May 6, 1978

A formal meeting was not called to order. The Park Commission met at
9 A.M. at the City Hall and proceeded to the Ramsey Elementary School
Ball Field Site. Our plans submitted to Council was rediscussed and
actual placement or orientation of the diamonds was further discussed.
At this time there was no decision to revise plans.

We went on to the Titterud Property which we walked over and discussed
possibilities. Some of the ideas were - a softball field, tennis
courts, picnic area, which might have multiple use for animal shows,
parade reviewing, horses.

On to the Traprock Park - Possibility of having builder buffer lot
lines with row of trees and leave a graded flat space at the west and
east ends. Leave existing trees on east end and plan for formal play-
ground of some type at the west end in the future.

Greenland Hills Map #12 very limited site which will remain an open
space and wetland site with the exception of possible roadside picnic
spot, horseshoe pit and perhaps a tot size sand box and swing. Power
high line restricts use of available space.

Greenland Hills Map #11 we saw little possibility for immediate plans.

Autumn Heights #16 was toured by auto due to time. Comments generally
ran to future space for nature park and walking trails, perhaps a
covered gazebo type building for youth group training. Generally felt
to be very long range planning.

Ford Brook Park or A-1 existing playground facility needs some main-
tenance at the swings with gravel or lowering of swings. Anticipated
addition of Lots I and 3 will be impossible as there are homes being
constructed on those two lots at the present time. This was a surprise
to Park Commission and a disappointment in that some very nice park
space has been lost.

Riverwood Hills #2 - Power high line restricts much development of space.
It was felt a backstop might be provided for sand lot ball and the en-
tire open space should be disc and seeded.

Brookview #4 - Dennis Donovan explained the plan of Eagle Scout Mark
Harris. Generally agreed this was the nicest park toured and with
Marks plans should remain a valuable park for the City. Some screen-
ing trees could be planted on the north side between park and residence
back yards, tables and play equipment need repair and could be painted
to blend in with park and natural coloring. There are too many signs.
Park restrictions could be incorporated into one sign on the lower
level. This area needs immediate toilet facility in the way of
Sattelites.

Tour ended about I P.M. Commission will continue the tour of balance
of park areas at another time.
