City of Ramsey
Parks and Recreation Committee
December 15, 1977

~leetinv called to order by Darrell Jensen at ~:20P.M.
Attending: Darrell Jensen, Doris Irvine, Paul Bogner, John Zobava,
Denny Donavon, and Phil Nereson.

Talk continued about the background information needed to get accurate
cost estimates for 'the proposed ball diamonds at Ramsey School. Two
estimators (Equipment companies interested in supplying the diamonds)
have been requested to submit blueprints on how to best utilize the
available space. Unfortunately, both estimates were incomplete at
tonivht's meeting.

Proposed sequence of events to get necessary data:
1. Phil Nereson will get estimates on any fill requirements
for the diamonds. Phil will also determine whether the
City of Ramsey has the equipment to move the earth.
2. Evaluation and discussion of the estimators blueprints of
proposed diamonds.
Based on the fill requirements, cost of Agra-Lime for
Infield, and possible Hydro Mulch for base for the out-
field plus equipment (bases, backstops, etc.), we can get
a fairly accurate cost estimate.

A special meeting will be called when the estimators submit their
ideas.

The total membership of P&R board was discussed. Allen Cooper has
verbally submitted his resignation. He has been asked to put it into
writi~ off~.cially. Dennis Donavon, a resident of Ramsey for four
years has volunteered for one of the vacancies. Dennis, is a school
teacher at Fred Moore Jr. High of Anoka and has taught for approximately
11 years. His application was submitted some weeks ago.

John Zobava suggested that the P&R does not have knowledge of the
financial status regarding funds for acquisition, maintenance and
improvement of parks. He further asked where we could get more money
and help. Doris Irvine had two suggestions:

Talk with Tom Clausen and ~r. Jambol from Urban Affairs,
State Planning Agency would give a presentation on eligi-
bility and requirements to get grant monies for P&R.
John Schultz, Division of Recreation and Leisure Studies,
would advise us how to use Student Assistance from U of ~N.
for planning park areas and the utilization of same. This
help would not cost P&R but is volunteer work.

The ~inutes were not approved for previous month (11/17/77) because
of insufficient attendance of members present at November meeting.

Motiom to adjourn by John Zobava, seconded by Paul Bogner. All in
favor. Adjo~rned at 9:30 P.~[.

S~bm~_ t t ed/J~y,

Paul Bother ¥Secretary
