Also present were Mr. James Stewart, Mrs. Karla Bray and
Mrs. Gail Czech.

Discussion on community school summer program cost of $3,300. Mr.
Stewart's concern is that the motion was dependent on the play-
ground being ready by June 1st. This is a meeting to implement a
summer program and a meeting to make decisions.

Mr. Cox asked how many backstops would be needed. Mr. Stewart
said two backstops and one temporary or moveable. Mr. Reimann said
the City has two permanent in the ballfield in the Riverwood Ad-
dition. We also have benches. We will need black dirt and sand
hauled in. Mr. Cox said if people will put the same effort into
getting the playground ready that they do in distributing flyers,
it wouldn't take long to get the playground preparation work done.

Mr. Cox showed Mr. Stewart where there were twelve points of dif-
ference between the four various community school budgets that
had been presented. The district has 33 schools but only l0 have
community school. City of Andover is spending $5,000 on a 7 week
summer program. Er. Stewart wants to know what we want in a sum-
mer program. Mr. Stewart attended two Concerned Citizens meetings.
Mrs. Czech spoke about the meetings they had with the City Council.
Discussion on needed communications between the community school
people and the Council. Er. Gray said they did not want to do the
things that had been planned by the Concerned Citizens group for
the March 2&th meeting. She also tried to explain the reason she
put things about the community school in the flyer that was dis-
tributed.

It was decided we need to develop a plan.' Mr. Stewart showed an
example of the brochure sent out for Andover about mid-May. Mr.
Cox asked if the community was going to have top priority for the
playground. Mr. Stewart said in the summertime the playground
will be open all the time for community school. They schedule the
adult activities. If adults come in unscheduled, they have the
authority to put them off the field. Cost of the tee shirts is
$2.25 In Anoka they are charging $1.00 and the City pays $1.00.
In Champlin and Andover they charge $2.00 and the children keep
the shirts. Mr. Jerich said if any child in Ramsey could not af-
ford to pay for their shirt, that the Lions Club would pay for it.

At first they will use school equipment and then add to it the
equipment .provided by the Lions Club. Equipment will be replaced
and added to each year. If they are going to have a double shift,
they will need extra staff. They have play day, theme day, trip
day, etc. They will start June16th and end Aug. 1st. Teachers
have to be back for workshop at their schools Aug. 15th or 16th.
