The Senate District 35 Special Election was held on Tuesday, February 9. All polling locations were open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Jim Abeler (R) won the election with 3,327 votes, followed by Roger Johnson (DFL) with 947 votes, and Zachary Phelps (LMN) with 180 votes. Those are total tallies which include the Cities of Anoka, Andover, and Ramsey and three precincts in Coon Rapids. Ramsey's totals were as follows: Jim Abeler 868 votes, Roger Johnson 252 votes and Zachary Phelps 47 votes. Write-in votes totaled 6; however, no write-ins were cast for candidate Aaron Jarson, who was the only registered write-in for this election. Ramsey's registered voter numbers are as follows: Registered as of February 9, 7:00 a.m. 14,570. New registrations throughout Election Day totaled 15. The percentage of Ramsey voters voting in the special election was about 8 percent. Next week starts the preparation for the Presidential election. The first County -wide clerk's meeting/session is next week, February 17, in Ham Lake. AND — so it begins — again! O Registration for the 8th Annual Ramsey EDA Business Expo is now open! The City of Ramsey Economic Development Authority (EDA) proudly presents its 8th annual Business Expo, on Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. — 2:00 p.m. at The Fountains of Ramsey, 7533 Sunwood Drive NW. Registration for exhibitors in now open! Space is available on a first-come basis, preference is given to businesses located within the City of Ramsey.
