PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION <br />PUBLIC HEARING <br /> CITY OF p~v~Ey <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey Planning and Zoning Commission conducted a public hearing on <br />Tuesday, March 3, 1987 at the Ramey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. <br />N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota regarding Mr. Richard Duggan's request for a <br />conditional use permit to manufacture steel horseshoes in the B-1 Business <br />District. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mr. Ken Peterson, Chairman <br />Mr. Roy Shumway <br />Mr. Ben Deemer <br />Mr. Gerald Zimmerman <br />Mr. Terry Hendriksen <br />Mr. Jim Howell <br />Mr. Charles LaDue <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Community Develol~nent Director <br /> <br />Chairman Peterson called the public hearing to order at 8:14 p.m. <br /> <br />Mr. Duggan was present and stated that he operates the Minnesota School of <br />Horseshoeing in Ramsey. He is requesting the conditional use permit to <br />manufacture steel horseshoes with an electrically powered drop forge hammer <br />in the existing building. <br /> <br />Mr. Aufderhar - 6315 Rivlyn Avenue - Inquired if Mr. Duggan will be <br />constructing another building for this operation and if there is a lot of <br />noise associated with the operation. <br /> <br />Mr. Duggan replied that there would not be any building expansion. There <br />wouldbe very little increase to traffic and the noise would be less than <br />that associated withthe students working at their anvils. There would be <br />no air pollution. <br /> <br />Ms. Norris stated that she received a phone call from Jack Newcomb of 6301 <br />Rivlyn expressing concern with the noise level and if there would be any <br />outside visibility of the manufacturing operation. <br /> <br />Mr. Duggan replied that manufacturing activities would be contained within <br />the building and there will not be any noise or environmental pollution. <br />There will be no outside storage and no large volumes of inventory or <br />product traffic. <br /> <br />P&Z Public Hearing/March 3, 1987 <br /> <br />Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br /> <br />
